Oval-Teen was a small-hearted indie-pop band, equal parts Sonic Youth, Ramones-inspired punk, and Ventures-style surf, topped with a heapin' helpin' of The Beach Boys.

Based out of-- you guessed it-- Yorkville, Illinois, Oval-Teen has actually been disbanded since 1999. Bi-Fi Records has released this nice 55-song double-disc set of early stuff, demos, and unreleased tracks.

Overall, the discs aren’t bad. But after a while, the drastic style jumps will make you want to stab your loved ones with a pencil.
